MANILA, Philippines—The Taguig City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 74 ordered the arrest of Cedric Lee and several others in connection with the mauling of actor/TV host Vhong Navarro.
Aside from Lee, ordered arrested are the following:
* Bernice Lee,
* Deniece Cornejo,
* Simeon Raz,
* Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma,
* Ferdinand Guerrero
* Sajed “Jed” Fernandez Abuhijleh
Judge Bernard Bernal issued the order on the grave coercion case filed against them by the Department of Justice (DOJ) last week.
“Even if it is bailable, at least it would prevent any attempted departure by any of the accused. They need to post bail and secure court permission to leave Philippine jurisdiction,” Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said in a text message to reporters Monday.
Guerrero earlier was stopped by Immigration authorities in an attempt to leave the country via Cebu Pacific flight to Hong Kong. Cedric Lee was reported to have book a flight to Dubai during the weekend but eventually cancelled after the information has leaked.
The serious illegal detention case against Lee and the others is pending before the Taguig Regional Trial Court and is set to hear on Tuesday the motion for judicial determination of probable cause filed by Lee. The court has yet to issue a warrant for their arrest. Serious illegal detention is a non-bailable offense.
