MANILA, Philippines — The three Filipino fatalities in the plane crash in Ukraine were a mother and her two children, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.
They were also living in the Netherlands based on the address on their passport applications, DFA spokesman Charles Jose said.
The Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was headed for Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam when it crashed after flying over Ukrainian airspace.
Jose said that they were ready to extend assistance to the relatives of the Filipinos, including the repatriation of their remains.
The DFA could not yet disclose the identities of the victims pending notification of their next of kin.
“We don’t know yet what happened, who is responsible, even if it was actually shot down, pending that, we reserve our comment,” Jose said.
