FACEBOOK is Gone

FACEBOOK is Gone

The title alone will initially jolt you, similar to gulping five espressos at the same time. No, Facebook is still online. But, what if Facebook is really gone, then what?

Years ago, before the emergence of Social Media, emerging social sites were Friendster.com and MySpace.com.  These websites had millions of members, but it did not have that Social Media impact unlike Facebook today. These sites were online, but a lot of us just didn’t care.

Now, based on a Hollywood film, Mark Zuckerberg, replicated these sites and designed it differently, and made it his own. Thus, the Facebook era began.

Throughout the years, just by word of mouth and recommendations, Facebook became an internet giant, an online nation of some sort.  If it were a continent then billions upon billions of internet users are now citizens if Facebook.

It has become a part of our lives. In a way, Facebook made the people of the world connected to some degree.

I believe that 9 out of 10 adults, with a profession, are hooked up with Facebook.

There are so many reasons why people are captivated by the ingenuity behind Facebook. They get updated, they can boast their achievements, they can post their meal and sometimes they can even chat with somebody across the globe.

Silly as it may seem the word “selfie” started with Facebook.

It is all about human nature. We want to know and we want to be known. That is what’s interesting with Social Media.

What if all of a sudden Facebook is disappears? Can the citizens of Facebook handle it? I can surely say that there is going to be pandemonium. This is similar to a flock of sheep losing a Sheppard.  All the sheep will scurry to different places.

At the outset, people will lose focus on their everyday life, such as work. It will be anesthetizing.  A lot of us will be disoriented, especially those who are dependent on Facebook Newsfeed. A lot of people will find it hard to move forward. It is comparable to losing a love one.

This is just temporary, and eventually life will proceed normally just like pre-Facebook period. People will revert back to electronic mails.  Photos will be attached to emails to keep a friend or a love one posted. Nobody will know what the other person “likes” anymore. No one will be able to share anything to anybody. No more annoying selfies. No more posting of scrumptious dishes. Life will take a step back.

It’s going to be grim, but we will survive. Just like in history, great Empires come and go. Nothing stays permanent.

So, if were in your shoes I better start making backup copies of all the photos in your Facebook Albums, in case the inevitable happens.
