TV 5 news anchor and host Paolo Bediones found his name trending on Twitter Sunday, July 27, after a video of a man looking like him and an unidentified woman caught in a private moment circulated online.
The video is reportedly around six minutes long and shows the man engaging in intimate acts with the woman.
Although Paolo has yet to issue a statement on the report, TV 5, his home network released a statement to news organizations regarding the controversy.
In a report by PhilStar.com, the network said:
“The recent issue involving our news anchor Paolo Bediones on social media is a purely personal and private matter in which TV5 has no involvement or desire to intrude. We accord our employee and talents all respect that are due them for their privacy and personal action or decision.”
“We disapprove strongly the malicious and wanton publication of the video, an act that clearly violates pertinent cybercrime laws.”
“We firmly express our support for our anchor Paolo Bediones in the face of a controversy that represents nothing more than an attempt to smear his reputation.”
Meanwhile, a report by Pep said that the video was old, and that it spread during the time that Paolo was still with GMA-7.
